This is a tiny landscape depicting a temple in India of the Mughal period--probably extant--with a red courtyard from the 19th century. The painting is set in unmarked silver and the small button is just a hair wider than diminutive. It is the size of an aspirin! The incredible detail compressed in this sumptuous scene is the truest form of miniature art; the artisans of 19th century India mastered the tiny view. This button measures 3/8" in excellent condition.
