This is a medium size 18th century Georgian compound pearl gentleman's sleeve button. The engraved posy on the back surface is curious! A 9/16" perforated pearl wheel is set within the larger 1 & 1/16" pearl with bright cut steel border. These two are connected by the pasted headed pin-shank. You have to look closely to appreciate the carved notches and knurling on the pearls. Quite a labor intensive button! it is in very fine condition.
