This is a very lovely 19th century button comprising a hand painted scene of a lady reading in her garden. The detail is exquisite--the blue silk gown balloons through the open back of the chair. Her yellow straw hat is decorated with pale pink flowers. Best of all, the lady conveys her stillness and peace of mind over the centuries. The button is sterling silver (tested). It measures 1 & 1/8" in very fine condition.
