This is a rare contemporary scene from the late 1700s of the Chateau of Raincy in France. This scene is long gone but probably 24 scenes of the grounds exist, assuming they embellished a gentleman's coat. The view on the black background is slightly lighter than real--the other view is best. It measures 1 & 5/8" large. The scene is highly detailed--likely the church steeple in the background is extant. The rim is tarnished copper; the back is steel. It is in excellent condition.
