This is a large 18th century Mennecy porcelain button measuring 1 & 1/4". Mennecy porcelain, a soft-paste porcelain of a particularly light and translucent quality made at a French factory from the 1730s to 1806. The delicate and brightly hued flowers and foliage are painted over a raised basket latticework. The same flowers and basket weave texture can be seen on extant table wares and novelties. The surface is in exceptionally fine condition. It is set in tested unmarked sterling silver.
