This 18th century brilliant steel button and jasper ware medallion inset are likely Wedgwood and Boulton steel. Buttons in this setting never show marks. It is possible that Adams also used Bolton steel and made buttons, so I do not say unequivocally that the jasper ware is Wedgwood. But, I do think it is :) All Wedgwood designs can be researched. This looks like a resting Athena with Cupid--the tiny form on the column reaching out to her. It measures 1 & 3/8" and is in very fine condition, with some light scratches on the back and a rusted shank.
