This is the perfect antique accessory for your holiday décor; it is absolutely gorgeous no matter where it's displayed.

You are looking at a superb Victorian English fireplace screen in wonderful Christmas colors.

The red wool needlepoint background enhances the multi-green color leaves and the gorgeous hand beaded flowers. The flowers are done with the following color beads: white, clear, gold, gunmetal gray & bronze. The colors are true to the photos.

The cream & dark mint green silky fringe matches the long side tassels and braided cording which surrounds the screen.

The back is done in cream and dark mint green silk and is original to the piece; it also features eight original gold metal hooks/hangers.

The overall condition is superb, especially when you consider this is well over 100 years old. There are a few missing red stitches, and possibly a few stitches which have been replaced by a slightly darker red. Unless you are looking closely for them or looking, like I was, for imperfections, you won't see them. The beadwork is in wonderful condition. The long right tassel is longer than the left one; this is an easy adjustment. The front has a couple areas where there is a light ripple, which is minor and once hung, will probably come out. The back silk backing shows areas of light shredding and one brown stain, but overall it's in great condition. I've shown most of the flawed areas.

This approx. dimensions are: top to longest bottom center portion: 20" to cording & 23 ½" to bottom of fringe; 17" wide at the top; right long tassel is 20" long & the left long tassel is 17" long.
