This pretty pin in gold washed, sterling silver with enamel was made by the celebrated Norwegian silversmith, Aksel Holmsen. His workshop operated from 1904-1971 and I believe that this is an early piece circa 1930 as it bears his olde mark ‘Norne’.
The oval pin measures 1¼” (3.2cms) by ¾” (2cms) . It weighs 6 grams .
It is painted with a beautiful, traditional Norwegian design. There are two black silhouetted skiers moving through the snowy mountains, The colours are subtle and the rosy, midnight sun sky has fine line detailing which creates the shimmering rays of the sun.
The back has the original gold wash . There is also a very solid old style c clip. Also present is ‘925’ for sterling silver, ‘Norne’ and an ‘N’ in a square for Norway .
This rare and really beautiful piece, in excellent vintage condition, will arrive carefully presented in a gift box.
