This beautiful early Pima collecting tray was used to gather prickly pear fruits and other desert edibles and features a stepped Mesa pattern worked out beautifully in devil's claw. This beautiful and tightly woven collecting basket measures slightly over 18" in width and 6" in depth and shows signs of actual use. The only worn area are four edge stitches along the dark rim which have their tops abraided, otherwise is an absolutely flawless example of Pima basket weaving skill and design.
