This impressive and ornate Western Apache basket was originally a gift presented at puberty ceremony for a young girl. This finely worked and tightly woven piece of Apache artistry features a desert flower design with ten human dance figures, five dogs and five large cross motif images with six stripes above each of them. The typical willow rod construction is tightly woven and missing only a few stitches here and there along the outer dark rim and features a finely worked Navajo tested sterling silver concho button with a brain tanned hide loop for wall attachment. These detailed figural Apache pieces are increasingly difficult to find and this basket would be a great center piece to any collection. These pieces only increase in value. 16" x 3 1/2" depth.
