Offered is an antique foot warmer with a wire handle for carrying. The wood-turned frame holds a perforated tole box which has a door to give access to the inside. Hot coals were placed in a container which would then allow the heat to escape through these perforations - the frame providing a safe place for the owner to rest their feet. The warmer helped during bleak, cold, snowy winters. The condition is good for the age but which was sometime in the 19th century. There is the expected wear to the frame and the tins.
What is so special about this warmer is that you see a heart motif on all four sides of the tin container a definite German/Dutch accent especially here in Lancaster Valley. Also, the foot warmer is 9 inches x 8 inches x. 6 inches and is entirely pegged. You will see no screws or nails in this piece.
