This wonderful painting titled "Hilda" is of a young girl seated in a wooden chair on the porch of a wood cabin and was painted by Gordon Wetmore in the 1960's. I was able to contact Mr. Wetmore in 2008 and we exchanged several emails which I have saved and will include a copy with the purchase of this painting. He valued the painting at $35,000 based on the prices for which he was selling his work at that time. He also told me that this was the first of his paintings that he reproduced in multiple images (1,000 signed and numbered prints). The canvas measures approx. 24 inches wide by 20 inches high (measuring on the back side of the framed painting). Framed, it measures approx. 28 inches by 23 1/2 inches. When my Father bought this painting from Gordon in the 1960's, he had an art and framing store in Chattanooga, Tennessee so he also bought many of the prints and we still have a number of them. My Father has only recently agreed to sell some of the art that he bought as an investor and collector during that time frame, so the person who makes a decision to own this painting will be acquiring a very fine work of art with an interesting history.
