Mid Century Modern Floor Lamp by Gerald Thurston for Lightolier - image 1 of 10

This is a classic and iconic floor lamp by one of the premier lighting designers, Gerald Thurston. He was the principal lighting designer for the Lightolier Lamp Co. during the 1950's and 60's. This one of his classic lamps and one of the earlier examples with the bulbous counterweight on the end of the shade arm. Later models had more of a cylinder design encased in wood. The shade has a definite, flying saucer feel to it. It retains its detachable diffusion screen, meant to soften the light from the bulb. This screen is often missing on many of these lamps. It also has the vent screen on top of the shade. The socket is a 3-way for a variety of light levels. Swivels on the shade and shade arm allow for almost infinite positioning angles of the shade. The center stem allows for about a 10" height adjustment for the arm. The lamp is 60"H at the highest position. The arm and shade are 35" in length with the arm completely horizontal. The shade is 12" in diameter. Any overcharge in shipping will be refunded to the buyer's PayPal account.
