The heavy large pair of gray metal molded bookends depict 1930’s bathing beauties in swimsuits of the day and bathing robes with detailed folds in thick green enamel. They are stepping down red and gold steps to a bronze colored beach. They have good deep, detailed casting. Their faces, hands, legs and shoulders were gilded. The backs of the bookends have a textured gilt finish.
The bookends have molded marks on the back of the base that read PAT APPL FOR and the production number 514.
