A pair of cast iron bookends in the shape of an Egyptian tomb with vulture wings and hieroglyphics.
The pair of cast iron bookends are very heavy and will hold up heavy books. They have been given a dark brown bronze patina. Each back panel is secured with four slot screws. The bookends are unmarked.
MEASUREMENTS
5 ¾” (14.6 cm) wide x 2” (5.1 cm) deep x 6 ¼” (15.9 cm) tall. Weighs 8 lbs 10.5 oz (3925 g)
CONDITION
About ½ of the corners of the back panels of both bookends are broken off near the screws. All but one of the rubber plugs that once covered the screw holes on the bases are missing. There are no other breaks, dents, cracks, or repairs.
Both bookends have a bit of rust along their top edges. Although the bookends have light to moderate patina losses and a few scratches throughout, they still have a nice dark brown look. The patina losses are most pronounced on the tops. The felts on both bookends are very worn and so were replaced with new dark brown felt discs.
A great pair of bookends to add to a collection or use. They are very heavy.
