High Victoria Revival, imaged circa 1950s. Golden floral and foliage link settings explode with simulated amethyst bar stones, imitation pearls and a sprinkling of purple rhinestones. (Amethysts and pearls were favorites in the mid to late 19th century.) Referred to as bar stones in a print ad in Julia C. Carroll's book "Collecting Costume Jewelry 303", the purple foiled glass rhinestones presented reflect an hourglass shape -- each beautifully faceted. Lustrous white simulated pearls and sparkling purple chaton rhinestones accent each of the five links. A lined fold over clasp secures.
The bracelet measures approximately 6 1/2 inches x 1 1/4 inches with a 1/4 inch profile or height. Hourglass rhinestones are about 18 millimeters x 13 millimeters; chaton rhinestones, 3 millimeters and faux pearls, 2 and 3 millimeters. Weight of the bracelet is 61.1 grams.
Condition is excellent vintage. All stones / pearls intact. All hourglass rhinestones original, including created cup settings. Foil backings intact. No chips, nicks, cracks or breaks to stones. All retain color and sparkle. Faux pearls retain nacre and luster; chaton rhinestones, brilliance and purple color. Antiqued gold tone finish intact, front and back. Slight finish wear to reverse of clasp. All links aligned and secure. Soldering secure. Fold over clasp strong and secure. Clean. No damage / no repairs. Excellent vintage.
The bracelet is not signed. Unmistakable Victorian Revival design, immensely popular mid century.
