This listing is for a VERY RARE amber Luster / Candlestick / Candleholder with Prisms.
Dates circa 1890-1910. IT HAS 14 PRISMS.
There is a 16 point star cut on the underside of the base. It is double mitered.
An outstanding Victorian example of early colored cut glass. It is Irish - the Georgian Period. You are looking at a Luster / Lustre with square foot. It has a facet cut stem with a thick base with star cut pattern. It is quite spectacular. Truly done by a master cutter. Deep rich amber color.
HAND BLOWN, WHEEL CUT, HAND POLISHED
Measures 11 5/8" tall x 5 3/4" wide including the prisms. The foot measures 3 1/8" wide x 3/4" thick.
The cut glass prisms measure 4" long including the bead. They have three sides. Luster weighs 3 1/2 lbs.
I love the part about the glass stem. It looks like leaves of a palm tree. The arms holding the prisms resemble palm branches.
