Nice pair of heavy cast iron bookends with a very fine gilt patina resembling dore' bronze of Auguste Rodin's famous sculpture "The Thinker". This pair are very finely cast with superb detail and none of the 'grittiness" seen on many versions of this design. The polished highlights give them the rich appearance of solid gold. Fine condition with a little loss to the gilt on the bottom edge of one bookend. No maker's marks5.5" tall by 4 3/8" wide by 2" deep. They weigh over 5 lbs.
