A striking decorative element from the Belle Epoque period, this beautiful firescreen is crisply carved around the edge with a repeating laurel-leaf motif framing a needlepoint tapestry with displays of florals and foliage in a mellow gold fabric with warm natural accent colors. A twisted rope carving runs the stretcher between the scrolled legs, each with acanthus carvings along the upper and terminating in scrolled toes.
