Dovetail construction wood advertising box, 18 ½” by 11” by 6 ¼”. Please read the full description and view all of the photos as they are part of the description. Box would have been a shipping crate and store retail display. Colorful original paper label, in excellent condition. Herbert F. Sparrow was a confectioner as early as 1884 in Cambridgeport, Mass. Sparrows chocolates came in a variety of flavors and fillings, nut and fruits. Circa 1905-1906, Sparrows Rob Roy chocolates were introduced. The pine box retains the original sliding lid. Three of the sides and lid were full of paint flecks and stains. These portions were sanded, stained and sealed with polyurethane. The label side was very good. It was lightly cleaned and sprayed for protection. The box is structurally sound. There are a few aged wood cracks in the lid. All sides are shown. An excellent historical item and storage box.
