Beautifully executed, antique majolica palissy ware wall plaque plate with a snake meeting a lizard head on and a smaller lizard hiding in deep grass. Signed on back with initials but I am unable to identify the artist. I assume it is from Portugal or it could be French.

It measures about 9" wide and weighs just over 3 pounds. It is in excellent condition for its age with typical grass nicks as you can see. The large lizard has a firing line but this happened in the kiln along with some kiln flaws. A wonderful piece!
